About the Founder

For more than 25 years, Michael Johnson loves to create brand experiences that drive action. As a designer and creator, Johnson started his career as a copy editor with the New York Times Regional Group before becoming a design editor with Gannett Newspapers and later as an account manager with Edward Jones.

As an editor and creative, Johnson also has served as an affiliate marketing manager for Hallelujah Acres, a vegan manufacturing company; a digital publications editor with Berkshire-Hathaway Media; and as an educator with the Union (S.C.) Career and Technology Center, the University of South Carolina Upstate, the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, N.C., and Limestone University in Gaffney, S.C.

With A Touch of Omari, Johnson has served as the creative director for the EMI Capitol/Headstorm anthology “You and I: The Very Best of O’Bryan;” and as the editor and creative director for the international award-winning children’s book “Makeda: Queen of Sheba” and “Children of Genesis: The Black Nations of the Old Testament” by Ronald Harrill.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Johnson earned his Masters of Professional Studies in publishing from The George Washington University; his Masters of Science in integrated marketing communication from West Virginia University; and his Master of Fine Arts from Liberty University. His MFA thesis focused on the lack of diversity in the publishing industry, with a particular focus on the historical depiction of black people through the lens of the Christian church.

Johnson’s specialties are in print project management experience and knowledge of web production comes from positions in publishing, graphic design and marketing communications. He offers a unique combination of creativity and analytical skill with the ability to assess both vantage points to create cost-effective solutions for both internal and external clients.
